Customers patronizing an RSCC installation choose their products and then scan the UPC imprints or RFID tags -- the choice is the operator's -- at the self-checkout kiosk. Patrons may be given the choice of paying with cash or cashless media, including credit, debit and stored-value cards. The installation is monitored 24/7 by Internet-connected security cameras. Its free server software is run on either an Amazon Cloud or Rackspace Cloud virtual server, over which the operator has total control.
