OLYMPIA, WA -- State Rep. Laurie Jinkins (D-Tacoma) has introduced a bill that would require Washington state agencies to improve the nutritional value of food sold to state employees and in state institutions.

The bill proposes that sodas and sugary drinks amount to no more than one-fifth of the beverages sold onsite, including through vending machines. It also encourages consumption of fat-free or low-fat dairy products and lean meats, and restricts foods that are fried or contain added sugar.
