SAN FRANCISCO -- Ecast Inc., which rolled out a new software version for its digital downloading jukeboxes this spring, reports that it now has successfully released the Juke4 upgrade for the EQ model across its network.

The latest software version offers a redesigned user interface and a variety of enhancements, including faster and easier searches (see VT, April). It was previewed at the Amusement Expo in Las Vegas, where the company also introduced its most advanced jukebox to date, the EQ V2. | SEE STORY

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, Ecast stated. "What we're hearing in the field is absolutely consistent with our test pilot prior to launch," said network operations vice-president Scott Walker. "Now with deployment across the entire network of EQs complete, we're seeing wide acceptance of the new UI, and that translates to increased engagement and coin drop.

"Our designers and engineers really nailed it, in terms of changing the focus of search from album to artist, enabling music discovery through recommendations and creating tools and apps that let consumers create song queues that will obviously drive more song plays," Walker added. A demo of the new software may be found at bit.ly/EcastJuke4.

Ecast has been a leader in interactive in-location media for more than a decade. It delivers digital music, games, location-based social media and advertising to a reported 10,000 bars, taverns and nightclubs across the United States.
