HOT SPRINGS, AR -- The Arkansas Vending Council will bring industry members together for an update on legislative and regulatory developments at its upcoming annual membership meeting and convention. The event also will afford participants ample opportunity for networking and family recreation. It will be held April 1-2 at the Clarion Resort on the Lake in Hot Springs, AR.

The conference gets underway on Thursday, April 1 with a board meeting. At 1 p.m., convention-goers will adjourn to Oaklawn Racing & Gaming, where they can enjoy the thrill of thoroughbred racing or try their hand at their favorite casino games.

AVC's lobbyists will host a cocktail hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. at the hotel's hospitality suite, and Silent Auction premiums will be on display in the adjoining room. Bidding on the AVC silent auction items opens on Friday morning at breakfast.

At 9:45 a.m., Dan Mathews, National Automatic Merchandising Association executive vice-president and chief operating officer, will present an update on national legislative trends, and on the programs and services available to members. He also will offer insights into what can be expected at the upcoming NAMA OneShow.

From 11 a.m. to noon, consultant and author Collins Andrews, a native of Pine Bluff, AR, will draw from his 40 years of mentoring experience to advise and enlighten operators. His first book, Listen to Your Work: Job-Active Advice From a Battle-Scarred Mentor, targets young professionals, students and people going through any kind of job change.

Convention registration fees, due March 3, are $75 a person, including spouses and guests. The box fee for Oaklawn Racing & Gaming is $20 per person. All fees are non-refundable for cancellations received after March 16, but a paid registration may be transferred to another person.

Contact the NAMA Southern Office in Georgia at (678) 916-3852, and Clarion Hotel for room reservations at (800) 432-5145. AVC is accepting donations for its silent auction; call Rod Calhoun at (479) 782-8363 or email rcalhoun@imperialco.com.
