The "value-added vendible" has been touted by product suppliers in recent years – and the latest to join the list of “incentivizing” vendibles is the peel-and-win concept.
Win Big Vending of Chatsworth, CA, is offering what it says are legal instant win games to vending patrons with the rollout of its "Peel & Win" stickers and temporary tattoos this month. Each flat vendible has a shiny tab on its reverse that reveals "not winner" or "winner," when peeled off. Winners go to the allied website, vendingwinner.com, where they can retrieve prizes worth between $10 and $500.
The first batch of giveaways in the contest ending Dec. 31, 2009, includes an Xbox 360 Pro console, a Nintendo Wii and a variety of handheld videogames and electronic goods. "No purchase necessary" entry is available online as well (for legal reasons), and non-instant winners can enter a sweepstakes drawing on the website, if desired.
According to company president Chris Morga, Win Big worked closely with legal counsel to ensure that the concept was set up properly for awarding of prizes, timeframes and methods of entry. It administers all aspects of the contest so there is no extra work for the operator. Remaining stock after the first contest ends is eligible to win in the next promotion, which is supposed to ensure that existing inventory doesn't lose its value.
The company's first selections include Glitter Dreamscapes, a temporary tat mix of flowers, butterflies and other feminine designs; Scary Skull, a skin art assortment for boys that combines tribal and skull themes; and Silly Smiles, a revamp of the oval and smiley-face sticker concept.
