EatWave Ships Upgrade Kit To Adapt USI Alpine For Hot/Cold Food Vending

Eat Wave vending machine, EatWave, U-Select-It, USI Alpine SAN DIEGO, CA -- Now available from EatWave is an upgrade kit for certain models of U-Select-It's Alpine series of refrigerated vending machines.

EatWave introduced its novel glassfront combination machine late last year, after demonstrating working prototypes at NAMA OneShow exhibits starting in 2010. The new kit is designed to impart the same menu flexibility to suitable versions of USI's popular Alpine vender. The appropriate models are those supplied with blue backlit keypads.

Installing the EatWave kit allows the converted Alpine vender to dispense both hot and cold prepackaged food. A dual-door 1,000W. microwave oven, proprietary to EatWave and supplied in the kit, is said to reheat food more quickly and precisely than general-purpose external ovens.

The included EatWave VENDcheck control board replaces the vender's existing controller. In addition to providing the functions required for hot-or-cold vending, it offers operators the option of accessing the machine online.

The EatWave machine incorporates a horizontally traveling belt in front of, and just below, the lowest shelf, and the compact microwave oven module immediately to its left. The oven is equipped with horizontally sliding doors at top and bottom, which are opened and closed by the control board.

The operator programs the machine's selections to identify the ones that are to be heated, and those that will be delivered cold. When a selection is made, it drops from the shelf and falls into, or is carried to, the open top door of the oven. If the item is to be heated, the lower door of the oven remains shut and the upper door closes. After completion of the rethermalizing cycle, the lower door opens and drops the ready-to-eat item into the delivery bin. An item programmed for sale cold simply passes through the oven cavity to the delivery bin.
