IRVINE, CA -- Bill Watson has joined Sprout Healthy Vending as director of operations, taking on wide-ranging responsibilities. He will manage Sprout's operations personnel and oversee training of Sprout operators. Additionally, he is in charge of forecasting, quality control, safety, purchasing and allocation of manufacturing assets, shipping and delivery, inventory control.
Watson's vending industry career spans 16 years. Most recently, he was general manager of Los Angeles-based Weymouth Distributing Co. He joined Weymouth in 2005 and remained with the company until it closed its doors last December after a 55-year run as one of the leading vending machine distributors on the West Coast. | SEE STORY
The California Automatic Vendors Council honored Watson as Supplier of the Year in 2006. He has attended the National Automatic Merchandising-Michigan State University Executive Development Program, and plans to earn his NAMA Certified Executive (NCE) certification soon.
"Bill has an impressive track record that combines multiple management skills that makes him the right person for this position," said Sprout cofounder Chris Wyland. "We are at an important point of our growth and we need a person that is particularly adept at team building and problem solving to help us manage our operational needs."
Watson succeeds Chris Clasby, who is moving into a sales role after managing Sprout's operations department since the company's inception.
Sprout Healthy Vending franchises a turnkey healthy and organic vending program that includes branded equipment. It reportedly has more than70 operators in 40 markets in the U.S., with 1,000 individual locations projected by the end of 2012.
Watson is based at Sprout's corporate office in Irvine, CA.
