BRISTOL, PA -- After nine software releases, 10 hardware cabinets and 140 games, Megatouch LLC is retiring its Ion touchscreen videogame platform. Megatouch 2014, released on Sept. 24, is the last software update for the Ion platform and will be available until Dec. 31.

The 2014 edition is the ninth software version since Ion's debut in 2005. Highlights include enhanced Educational Attract Screens and 14 new games, 10 with Tournamaxx support. The last version is headlined by Milky Way Mini Golf, in which players test their skills on an "outer space" golf course with planets, suns and black hole obstacles, along with Cardboard Chaos: Zombie Edition, Air Guardian: Escape and Ice Rift, among other games. | SEE STORY

While the videogame company had continued support in recent years for the legacy platform, it introduced Ion's successor two years ago. Megatouch Live is an Internet-enabled platform that operates under a subscription service plan. The ML-1 is the first countertop terminal that runs Megatouch Live. It features a 22" multi-touch display, allowing several users to play games together, and has more than 100 Megatouch Live HD games. It can connect to the Megatouch network through Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G.

Megatouch LLC has been the leading manufacturer of bartop videogames for more than 35 years. Megatouch was formerly a division of AMI Entertainment Network, a jukebox and digital music company. Today, Megatouch also markets Prize Farm, a skill with prize game, and Rowe changers.
