NORTHFIELD, IL -- Kraft Foods said it has begun beta-testing its Diji-Touch touchscreen snack vending machines with Next Generation Vending and Foodservice Inc. at colleges and universities, healthcare facilities, in transportation hubs and other high-traffic sites in the Boston metropolitan area.
With a touch of the 46" LCD, patrons can watch visuals of snack items (often rotating 360°) and view ingredients and nutrition information. The machines are also designed to run interactive advertising. Banner ads stream across the top of the screen, and full-screen ads display when the machine is not in use.
The machines in the beta test are stocked with Kraft snacks along with candy and snack foods from other manufacturers. If the test is successful, Kraft it could begin rolling out the novel venders nationwide by the second half of 2011.
Next Generation, a Canteen franchise based in Canton, MA, provides full-line vending, dining and office coffee services to customers in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
