MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Fastcorp has announced that VT Inc., a private investment group, has acquired the assets of the company and has renamed it Fastcorp LLC.
Under the new ownership, Todd Piatnik has joined the company as president. A former director of package and equipment innovation for PepsiCo’s World Wide Technical Operations Group, Piatnik brings more than 20 years of successful business leadership and vending equipment development and innovation to his new post.
Founded in 1990 as Food Automation Systems & Technology Corp., Fastcorp played a leading role in the revitalization of the U.S. ice cream vending market. Its innovative robotic delivery system holds frozen product securely in a base-mounted freezer chest. When a vend is initiated a robotic arm opens the lid and an X-Y-Z positioning mechanism guides a vacuum pickup head to the selected product, for gentle retrieval and delivery to the patron.
The machine has been hailed for its novel design, which eliminates the need for moving parts in the freezer. This prevents frost build-up and damage to components in sub-zero temperatures. Experienced operators have welcomed the unique freezer-chest storage system, which keeps the contents neatly contained in the event of a location power failure and consequent “meltdown.”
In 2002, Fastcorp and the Dixie-Narco division of Maytag forged a manufacturing alliance under which Dixie-Narco produces Fastcorp’s flagship Z-400 merchandisers in its South Carolina plant.
With more than 25,000 machines in 20 countries, Fastcorp has established itself as a major player in the U.S. ice cream vending market. The versatile Z-4000 can handle all sorts of frozen products, and has performed well when stocked with a mix of frozen mainmeal items plus snacks and desserts. With the introduction of the Food Court Express program, Fastcorp has moved closer to its goal of delivering attractive, reliable and economical frozen vending solutions.
