HERSHEY, PA — The International Association for the Leisure and Entertainment Industry reports that its 2008 Fun Expo again will be run in conjunction with an expanded educational program, Fun Academy. It will start on Monday, September 8; the Fun Expo exhibits will open on Wednesday, September 10. Both events conclude on Friday, September 12, and will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

This year’s Fun Academy will offer eight educational tracks, allowing participants to assemble a curriculum that addresses their specific interests. Separate tracks are devoted to Food & Beverages, Human Resources, Marketing, Operations, Safety & Risk Management, Finance, Technology and Trends. This format allows registrants to obtain in-depth information about a wealth of subjects, ranging from “Training the Trainer: Developing a Strong Team” to “The Inflatable Concept: Operations for Indoor Facilities.” There will even be an Inflatable Safety Certification course, with optional exam, offered on Monday, September 8.

Other workshops scheduled for the 2008 Fun Academy include Rookies & Newcomers; the ServSafe Food Safety Training Program and certification exam; Starting and Operating a Successful Laser Tag Attraction; Hands-On Redemption: See It, Touch It, Feel It; and a party workshop entitled Everybody Loves to Party.

Thursday, September 11 will be “Attractions Day,” featuring three Power Sessions and 11 round-table idea exchanges at which participants can trade views and experiences regarding everything from batting cages to water attractions.

This year, IALEI members can attend the Rookies & Newcomers workshop for a registration fee of only $429, which includes admission to Fun Academy and the Fun Expo exhibits. Fee for nonmembers is $479. Both prices are based on registration before August 1.

Accommodations have been reserved at the Las Vegas Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations, and a discount is available to Fun Expo registrants: $162 for a single/double at the Las Vegas Hilton and $155 for a studio suite ($185 for a one-bedroom suite) at Hilton Grand Vacations.

Online registration for the 2008 Fun Expo and Fun Academy is available at www.funexpo.com. Prospective showgoers also can call W.T. Glasgow Inc. at (708) 226-1300.
