LOS ANGELES -- HUMAN, or Helping Unite Mankind and Nutrition, said it has opened its first three healthy micromarkets in the Los Angeles area, with others slated to follow in northern California, Honolulu, HI, and Houston, TX.

The self-checkout stores, merchandised with a wholesome array of food, snacks and beverages, have made their debuts in the Los Angeles area at Ogilvy Public Relations and Oakwood Worldwide, a corporate housing and apartment complex. The vending biz-op also has a self-checkout store at its own L.A. headquarters, which is home to more than 30 employees.

The healthy vending franchisor said companies are welcoming its micromarkets as a new employee amenity and "more robust" onsite foodservice solution that often ties into their wellness programs.

A franchisee in Hawaii is next in line to launch a HUMAN micromarket at America Savings Bank later this month.

Additional deployments are lined up for businesses in northern California and Houston, TX, according to HUMAN.

HUMAN's machines are reportedly in operation in 2,000-plus schools, offices, hospitals, health clubs and other locations in more than 40 U.S. states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
